The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has recorded zero road traffic crashes involving articulated vehicles along the Kugbo outbound corridor of the Federal Capital Territory since the launch of its ongoing enforcement exercise, Operation Safe Kugbo, on 18 March 2026.

The development marks a significant milestone in the Corps’ efforts to improve road safety and regulate the movement of heavy-duty vehicles during peak traffic periods within the nation’s capital.

In an official statement, the Corps Public Education Officer, Deputy Corps Commander Osondu Ohaeri, disclosed that the operation has so far led to the restriction of 858 articulated vehicles and trucks from operating along the corridor during peak hours.

He explained that the enforcement exercise is being carried out under the strategic leadership of the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, and is firmly anchored on the provisions of the National Road Traffic Regulations, particularly Section 223, as well as the Federal Capital Territory traffic regulations.

According to the statement, the initiative also aligns with the FRSC’s 2026 Corporate Strategic Goal 1, which focuses on drastically reducing road traffic crashes and improving overall road safety outcomes across the country.

At the operational level, the Unit Commander of RS7.13 Nyanya, CRC WF Luka, has continued to lead a dedicated team of operatives implementing the enforcement drive through targeted patrols, strategic deployment of personnel, and real-time traffic management during peak traffic periods.

The Corps noted that the operation remains ongoing, with intensified monitoring and enforcement measures being sustained to consolidate the gains already recorded.

FRSC stressed that the zero-crash record recorded along the corridor since the commencement of the exercise demonstrates the effectiveness of restricting articulated vehicles during high-traffic periods.

The Corps therefore urged motorists, fleet operators, and truck drivers to maintain full compliance with the restriction order, reaffirming its commitment to protecting lives and ensuring safer roads across the Federal Capital Territory and the country at large.
