Troops of the Joint Task Force North East Operation Hadin Kai have intensified offensive operations against Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists, recording significant operational gains including the neutralisation of insurgents, arrest of suspects, and disruption of terrorist logistics networks across the North-East theatre between March 31 and April 4, 2026.

The development was disclosed in a statement issued by the Media Information Officer of the task force, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, who said the sustained military pressure has continued to degrade the operational capacity of terrorist groups across the region.

According to the statement, troops under Sector 2 of Joint Task Force North East Operation Hadin Kai deployed in Geidam, Yobe State, working in conjunction with operatives of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), recorded a major breakthrough after acting on credible intelligence regarding terrorist logistics activities.

During the operation near Geidam, troops engaged terrorist logistics suppliers in a fierce encounter that resulted in the neutralisation of three insurgents. A vehicle conveying supplies meant for terrorist camps was also disabled during the engagement. Items recovered from the scene included food supplies, mobile phones and other materials intended to sustain terrorist activities in the area.

In another operation, troops successfully ambushed terrorists attempting to emplace Improvised Explosive Devices along the Konduga–Kawuri axis in Borno State. The insurgents were engaged with decisive firepower, triggering an explosion that killed two terrorists. Following the encounter, troops recovered weapons and ammunition during exploitation of the area.

As part of ongoing counter-IED operations, soldiers also discovered and safely detonated another improvised explosive device planted along the Ngoshe–Pulka road, averting potential casualties and ensuring safe movement along the route.

Meanwhile, troops recorded additional successes during counter-terrorism operations in Adamawa State. In Mubi North Local Government Area, troops under Sector 4, working alongside local hunters, conducted an offensive operation that led to the arrest of three Boko Haram/ISWAP members.

Preliminary investigations revealed that one of the suspects had previously gathered intelligence on troop locations and military activities for the terrorists. The suspect also confessed to participating in a recent attack during which insurgents reportedly suffered heavy casualties. All three suspects are currently in custody undergoing further investigation.

In a separate development, troops operating in Mainok market also arrested three terrorist logistics suppliers and recovered livestock, mobile phones and cash, further weakening the supply chain sustaining insurgent operations.

Further successes were recorded in Yobe State, where troops intercepted a vehicle conveying suspected terrorist elements. Two of the occupants were discovered with gunshot wounds believed to have been sustained during earlier encounters with troops. The suspects, believed to be members of Boko Haram/ISWAP, were arrested alongside communication devices recovered from them and are currently in custody for further interrogation.

Additional operations across the theatre also led to the arrest of suspected informants and collaborators attempting to cross into neighbouring areas, while a foreign national was apprehended at a military checkpoint under suspicious circumstances.

The Joint Task Force North East Operation Hadin Kai noted that troops have maintained aggressive operations within their area of responsibility, effectively denying criminal elements freedom of action across the North-East.

Military authorities commended the troops for their resilience, vigilance and professionalism in the ongoing campaign against terrorism, urging them to sustain the current operational momentum in order to enhance security and protect economic activities across the region.
