The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has donated state-of-the-art broadcast equipment to NYSC Radio 88.3 FM, Abuja, in a strategic intervention aimed at enhancing the station’s technical capacity and outreach, the NYSC Directorate announced.
During a brief ceremony at the station within the NYSC National Directorate Headquarters, the Director of the NDDC Liaison Office in Abuja, Mary Nwaeke, presented a 2-kilowatt FM transmitter and a lithium-powered inverter system designed to ensure uninterrupted power supply. The donation also included a complete overhaul of the station’s wiring to eliminate audio interference and an upgrade of its online presence on “Radio Garden,” broadening access to both national and international audiences.
Speaking on behalf of the NDDC Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Samuel Ogbuku, Nwaeke highlighted the Commission’s commitment to youth development and national growth. She emphasized the importance of supporting young Nigerians, particularly those on national service, and stressed the role of media in fostering education, awareness, and social mobilization.
Receiving the equipment on behalf of the NYSC Director-General, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, the Director of NYSC Media, Mr. Emeka Mgbemena, lauded the NDDC as a dependable partner. He noted that the intervention would significantly improve the station’s broadcast quality, operational efficiency, and engagement with listeners.
The donation is expected to strengthen NYSC Radio as a vital platform for youth-driven initiatives, information dissemination, and national development, reflecting a growing partnership between the Commission and the NYSC in advancing strategic programs for young Nigerians.
