Troops of Operation WHIRL STROKE have scored notable operational successes following intelligence-driven clearance operations across Benue State on 24 March 2026.
Acting on credible intelligence about armed herders in Mbapa and Mbabuande communities in Gwer West Local Government Area, soldiers of Sector 1 deployed from Bilawa-Jor and Naka swiftly conducted thorough searches. During the operations, troops discovered an abandoned suspected criminal hideout and, after further clearance along River Akpako, arrested two suspects who are now in custody for ongoing investigations.
In a separate operation the same day, troops responded to kidnapping reports at Tse-Ubena village in Yooyo Council Ward, Katsina-Ala Local Government Area. Working in coordination with the Benue State Civil Protection Guard, the task force conducted a targeted raid on a suspected criminal hideout. The operation led to the successful rescue of Mrs. Member Ityavber, 28, who is now receiving care and has been reunited with her family. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the criminal syndicate.
The Force Commander of Joint Task Force Operation WHIRL STROKE, Major General Moses Gara, commended the troops for their swift response, professionalism, and dedication. He reaffirmed the task force’s commitment to maintaining a secure environment, especially as local communities prepare for the farming season.
The operations underscore the Joint Task Force’s determination to disrupt criminal networks and safeguard the lives and livelihoods of residents across Benue State.
