The World Meteorological Organization Regional Training Centre (WMORTC) has sought enhanced institutional collaboration with the Nigerian Armed Forces Resettlement Centre (NAFRC) as part of efforts to deepen research, professional training and capacity development.

The Director of WMORTC, Professor Peter Ojugo, on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, led a delegation on a courtesy visit to the Commandant of NAFRC, Air Vice Marshal Nnaemeka Ignatius Ilo, at the Centre’s headquarters.

The delegation was represented by the Head of Training School, Mr Aremu A.O., who conveyed the Director’s message and explained that the visit was aimed at fostering mutual cooperation between both institutions. He stressed the importance of strategic partnerships in advancing meteorological education and promoting professional excellence.

According to him, collaboration between WMORTC and NAFRC would encourage knowledge exchange through joint training initiatives and technical cooperation, while also strengthening research outputs and professional development frameworks.

In his response, Air Vice Marshal Ilo warmly received the team and commended WMORTC for its contributions to meteorological research and global scientific advancement. He underscored the relevance of meteorology in national planning, environmental sustainability, disaster risk reduction and security operations.

The Commandant reaffirmed NAFRC’s readiness to collaborate with reputable institutions to enhance its training programmes and expand opportunities for personnel, noting that partnerships of this nature are critical to building institutional resilience and improving professional competence.
