The Ministry of Interior recently celebrated officers who retired after years of distinguished service to the Federal Government in a memorable send-forth ceremony held in Abuja. The event highlighted the invaluable contributions of the retirees to the Ministry’s growth, stability, and institutional professionalism.
In an official statement, Head of Press and Public Relations, Mary Ali, disclosed that the Honourable Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, was represented at the ceremony by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani. Speaking at the event, the Minister described the retirees as “pillars of institutional strength and professionalism,” commending their years of sacrifice, dedication, and commitment to duty.
“Your years of service have contributed immensely to the growth and stability of this Ministry. You leave behind not just years of service, but legacies of excellence,” the Minister said, urging the retirees to continue serving as ambassadors of integrity and professionalism. He emphasized that retirement from active duty does not mean retirement from impact, noting that the Ministry would continue to draw on their wealth of experience whenever necessary.
On behalf of the nation’s leadership, the Minister expressed gratitude to the retirees for mentoring younger staff and serving as custodians of institutional memory, while praying for their health, peace, and fulfilment in retirement.
Earlier, the Director of Human Resource Management, Mrs. Catherine N. Zosi, commended the retirees for their unblemished records and dedication to national service, adding, “Your legacies will continue to inspire officers within this Ministry.”
The ceremony featured goodwill messages from colleagues and fellow retirees, along with the presentation of commendation certificates and gifts in recognition of their outstanding service. The event underscored the Ministry’s commitment to honouring excellence and preserving the institutional knowledge and legacy of its officers.
