The Nigerian Air Force has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to decisive, intelligence-driven operations against insurgent and terrorist groups, as the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, outlined a comprehensive operational roadmap during a high-level meeting with Air Component Commanders (ACCs) on Tuesday, 10 February 2026.

In an official signed statement, Director public relations and information NAF, Air commodore Ehimen Ejodame disclosed that the CAS while speaking at the strategic forum, described as a critical warfighting review, emphasised the need for speed, precision, and relentless pressure in counter-insurgency missions. “We must dominate the operational space through superior coordination, innovation, and unwavering professionalism. Every sortie, every mission, and every decision must move us closer to total security restoration,” he charged, reiterating that the Air Force remains fully committed to projecting overwhelming airpower in support of ground forces and joint operations.

The meeting, which brought together senior officers, Branch Chiefs, and operational commanders, served as a platform to rigorously evaluate ongoing missions, close operational gaps, and align strategies with emerging threats. Air Marshal Aneke acknowledged the extraordinary sacrifices of ACC personnel, noting that their courage, endurance, and operational discipline under challenging combat conditions have yielded measurable gains in degrading insurgent capabilities and disrupting hostile networks. “Our personnel remain our greatest strength. Their resilience in the face of adversity proves that the Nigerian Air Force is prepared, focused, and battle-ready,” he said.

While commending the successes, the CAS highlighted the fluidity of the security environment and the need for constant adaptation. He directed commanders to intensify intelligence-led operations, strengthen inter-agency collaboration, and fully leverage modern technology to outpace evolving threats. He further stressed the importance of standardised training, predictive maintenance, and rapid logistics support as essential pillars of sustained combat effectiveness.

Air Marshal Aneke assured Nigerians that the Air Force’s operational posture is designed to maintain relentless momentum, safeguard civilians and national assets, and uphold territorial integrity. “The Nigerian Air Force stands as a shield over the nation. We remain vigilant, aggressive against threats, and fully aligned with our constitutional duty to safeguard the country,” he affirmed.

The CAS concluded that the NAF will continue to evolve, enhance partnerships, and apply decisive airpower until lasting peace is achieved, urging the public to maintain confidence in the Armed Forces’ dedication. With resilience, professionalism, and unshakable determination, the Nigerian Air Force is poised to secure the nation against all threats, reinforcing its pivotal role in protecting the country’s stability and sovereignty.
