In a move to strengthen support for youth development and operational efficiency, the Rivers State Government has donated a brand-new Toyota Hilux van to the South-South 2 Area Office of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

The gesture fulfils a promise made by Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara during a courtesy visit by the NYSC Director-General, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, to the Government House, Port Harcourt, in November 2025.

In an official signed statement, the NYSC Director of Information and Public Relations, Caroline Embu, disclosed that the vehicle was formally presented to the Area Office Director, Mr. Phillip Enaberue, by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba.

The presentation ceremony was also attended by a Permanent Secretary in the Office of the SSG, Sir Dede Friday, and the NYSC State Coordinator, Mr. Moses Oleghe.

The donation is expected to enhance the mobility of NYSC personnel, improve service delivery, and support the Corps’ ongoing initiatives in youth empowerment, community development, and civic engagement across Rivers State.

Governor Fubara’s continued commitment to supporting the NYSC reflects the state’s dedication to youth development and the importance of operational readiness in advancing national service objectives.
