The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has reinforced its commitment to civil–military engagement and grassroots development with the commissioning of a block of four duplex classrooms at Gwagwarwa Community in Nasarawa Local Government Area of Kano State. The project, completed under the NAF Special Intervention Quick Impact Project, was officially commissioned on 29 January 2026, reflecting the strategic vision of the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, to support community education and social infrastructure.

Represented by the Chief of Civil–Military Relations, Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, the CAS described the initiative as a deliberate effort to promote early educational development by providing pupils with a safe and conducive learning environment. He emphasized that quality education is a critical tool in combating illiteracy and poverty, and noted that the project embodies the NAF’s people-centred approach to national security.

Air Vice Marshal Gabkwet also commended the project facilitator, retired Air Vice Marshal Suleiman Usman, for his dedication, professionalism, and long-standing service to the nation. He highlighted that the newly commissioned classrooms would significantly improve teaching and learning outcomes for students in the Gwagwarwa Community.

In his remarks, Air Vice Marshal SK Usman (Rtd) explained that the Quick Impact Project provides the Nigerian Air Force with a platform to give back to society and meaningfully contribute to national development beyond its core military responsibilities. He underscored that fostering peaceful coexistence, mutual trust, and cooperation with host communities remains a priority for the NAF, and initiatives such as this help bridge the gap between the Armed Forces and civil society.

The retired Air Vice Marshal further urged the Gwagwarwa community and school authorities to take full ownership of the facility, ensuring its proper use and maintenance to guarantee long-term sustainability and continued benefits for future generations.

The commissioning of the classrooms is part of the NAF’s broader strategy to leverage its resources for community development, strengthen civil–military ties, and enhance access to quality education in Nigeria’s grassroots communities.
