The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, has reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) to international capacity building and strategic partnerships aimed at enhancing professionalism, operational effectiveness, and adherence to global best practices in law enforcement.

The IGP gave this assurance at the graduation ceremony of three Nigeria Police officers at the Abu Dhabi Police College, United Arab Emirates, where he was represented by the Commissioner of Police, INTERPOL Lagos Annex, CP Bode Ojajuni.

In an official statement signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Inspector-General noted that the participation of Nigerian officers in reputable international training programmes reflects the determination of the NPF leadership to continuously expose its personnel to global standards, modern policing techniques, and cross-border cooperation frameworks.

According to the statement, the three Nigerian officers who successfully completed the four-month basic academy training programme are Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Abdullah Yusuf, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Faith Asigidi, and Inspector Noah Joseph, all serving at the INTERPOL Bureau of the Nigeria Police Force.

The officers participated under the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) and UAE Ministry of Interior Police Academy Exchange Programme, a collaborative initiative between the IACP and the UAE Ministry of Interior designed to promote international police cooperation and professional exchange.

A total of 52 police officers representing 44 police agencies from 35 countries were enrolled in the intensive training programme at the Abu Dhabi Police College, where they were exposed to modern policing practices, leadership development, operational tactics, and international law enforcement cooperation.

The graduation ceremony attracted high-level attendance, including the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Khaled Bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, senior Emirati government officials, police representatives, and global dignitaries from participating countries.

The IGP commended the graduating officers for their dedication and exemplary conduct, describing their successful completion of the programme as a source of pride to the Nigeria Police Force and the country at large. He expressed confidence that the knowledge, skills, and international exposure gained would be effectively deployed to strengthen policing operations, intelligence sharing, and transnational crime-fighting efforts in Nigeria.

The Nigeria Police Force, under the leadership of IGP Kayode Egbetokun, continues to prioritise strategic international engagements, capacity development, and personnel training as key pillars of its ongoing reform agenda aimed at building a more professional, intelligence-driven, and globally connected police institution.
