The Plateau State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to partnering with Defence Holdings Company Limited (DHCL) to facilitate the establishment of Defence Farms and Agro-Allied Products (DFAAP) in Wase Local Government Area, a project aimed at improving agricultural output, creating jobs, and enhancing security in the region.
Governor Caleb Mutfwang gave the assurance on Tuesday, 28 January 2026, when he received the Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of DHCL, Air Vice Marshal Anthony Victor Ndace, and his delegation at the Government House, Jos.
Director of Defence Information, Major General Samaila Uba, disclosed in an official signed statement that the Governor assured the delegation of his administration’s readiness to support the take-off of the Defence Farms initiative. Represented at the meeting by the Secretary to the State Government, Architect Samuel Jatau, Governor Mutfwang commended DHCL for its strategic vision and intervention in the agricultural sector. He confirmed the state government’s commitment to immediately hand over the 30,000 hectares of land already allocated to DHCL for the commencement of the project.
According to the Governor, the initiative will not only boost food production but also enhance security in Wase and adjoining communities. He also commended the Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, for his sustained efforts toward ensuring peace and national stability, and reiterated his administration’s resolve to collaborate with DHCL, through the Defence Headquarters, to ensure seamless implementation of the project.
Governor Mutfwang further welcomed the DHCL team to Plateau State, encouraging them to explore the state’s rich cultural heritage and diverse landscape.
In his remarks, Air Vice Marshal Anthony Victor Ndace, speaking on behalf of the Chief of Defence Staff, expressed gratitude to the Governor for allocating 30,000 hectares of land for the initial phase of the Defence Farms and Agro-Allied Products initiative. He noted that he was accompanied by a technical team to assess the land and explore opportunities for collaboration with the state government in line with the Federal Government’s food security agenda.
The GMD/CEO also thanked the Plateau State Government for the warm reception extended to him and his team, and prayed for sustained peace and continued development across the state.
Highlights of the visit included a presentation on the agricultural potential of the 98,000 hectares of land at Wase of which 30,000 hectares have been earmarked for the first phase of DFAAP, an exchange of souvenirs, and a group photograph involving Plateau State Government officials and members of the DHCL delegation.
