The Honourable Minister of State for Works, Rt. Hon. Bello Muhammad Goronyo, Esq., on Sunday, 18 January 2026, attended the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the National Association of Nagarta Old Boys (NOBA), held at Nagarta College, Sokoto, where he reaffirmed his enduring commitment to the development of his alma mater and to Nigeria’s broader national infrastructure agenda.
In an official signed statement, the Special Adviser on Media, Office of the Honourable Minister of State for Works, Abdullahi Mohammed disclosed that Minister Goronyo, an alumnus of Nagarta College and a Grand Patron of NOBA, expressed deep appreciation for the opportunity to reconnect with his former classmates and fellow alumni, describing the gathering as a moment of reflection, gratitude, and renewed commitment to the growth and development of the institution that shaped his early years. He noted that the AGM provided a platform for old boys to collectively recommit themselves to supporting the advancement of the college.
He further disclosed that speaking at the event, the Minister thanked Almighty Allah for the privilege of witnessing the occasion and recalled the significant role Nagarta College played in shaping his character, values, and leadership journey. He said the discipline and principles instilled in him during his time at the college laid the foundation for his rise to public service, culminating in his current position as Minister of State for Works under the administration of President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.
He noted that, as an old boy of the institution, he carries the spirit and values of Nagarta College into his national assignment of transforming Nigeria’s road infrastructure, stressing that his approach to leadership and service at the Ministry of Works is guided by the same ethos of discipline, dedication, and excellence he imbibed as a student.
The Honourable Minister emphasized that the Ministry of Works remains fully committed to driving the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, with a clear focus on delivering quality road networks that promote national unity, stimulate economic growth, and support sustainable development across the country. He reaffirmed his dedication to national development through the execution of critical infrastructure projects and pledged to continue supporting Nagarta College and similar institutions in all possible ways.
Bello Muhammad Goronyo further placed it on record that during his tenure as Minister of Water Resources, he facilitated the provision of over 100 solar-powered boreholes across various communities and institutions nationwide, with Nagarta College listed among the beneficiaries. He explained that the intervention was aimed at improving access to clean and sustainable water supply for educational institutions and their host communities.
He added that several massive infrastructure projects are currently ongoing across the country under the leadership and intervention of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, noting that these projects are central to the administration’s efforts to strengthen connectivity and accelerate national development.
The Honourable Minister also commended the Governor of Sokoto State, His Excellency Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto, FCNA, for the visible infrastructural improvements within Nagarta College, particularly in road construction, renovation of buildings, and environmental enhancement. According to him, these efforts underscore the Sokoto State Government’s commitment to advancing education and improving learning conditions within the state.
Following the AGM, Minister Goronyo toured the school facilities, including classrooms and students’ hostels, and visited his former hostel, where he reminisced about his days as a student. As part of his support for the institution, he announced a donation of ₦2.5 million to NOBA to aid the development of Nagarta College, in addition to other ongoing support initiatives.
He concluded by offering prayers for continued peace, progress, and development of Nagarta College, Sokoto State, and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
