The Nigeria Police Force has paid glowing tribute to retired Commissioner of Police, Lawrence Eko Alobi, Esq, MON, fdc, as he marks his 76th birthday, celebrating a distinguished life of service, professionalism and enduring contributions to national security and public affairs.
In an official statement signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Police described CP Alobi as a towering figure in the history of the Nigeria Police Force, whose career exemplified dedication, integrity and operational excellence across multiple commands and formations.
According to the statement, CP Alobi served with notable distinction, most prominently as Commissioner of Police in charge of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. During his tenure, he coordinated security for several critical national and international engagements, including the African Union Summit, the All Africa Games, major political conventions and high-profile visits by foreign dignitaries, including United States presidential delegations.
Beyond his operational accomplishments, the retired senior officer was praised for his exceptional intellectual depth and rare blend of policing, legal and academic expertise. He holds degrees from Bayero University, Kano; the University of Calabar; the Nigerian Law School; the University of Maiduguri; and the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and is also an alumnus of the prestigious National Defence College.
Since his retirement from active service, CP Alobi has continued to play a vital role in nation-building. He is the Principal Partner at Lawrence Alobi & Co. Law Firm and remains a highly regarded security consultant, trainer and elder statesman within the security and legal communities.
The statement further noted that CP Alobi has remained a prominent public affairs analyst, regularly offering informed and balanced perspectives on security governance, police welfare, recruitment and institutional reforms through radio and television platforms. As Executive Director of the Foundation for Peace and Security Education, he has consistently championed professional training, humane policing, prompt investigation and fair treatment of citizens within the criminal justice system.
In congratulating the retired commissioner, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, on behalf of officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force, commended CP Alobi’s enduring commitment to public service and national development. The IGP wished him continued good health, fulfilment and many more years of impactful contribution to Nigeria.
The Nigeria Police Force described CP Lawrence Eko Alobi as an exemplar of service and leadership whose legacy continues to inspire serving and retired officers across the country.
