The Honourable Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, fsi, has condemned in strong terms the deadly attack on Kasuwan Daji Market, describing it as a barbaric and inhuman assault that has robbed innocent Nigerians of their lives and left many others injured.
Expressing deep sorrow over the incident, the Minister said the brutal attack on a place of livelihood and daily survival strikes at the very core of the nation’s shared humanity. She noted that markets represent hope, sustenance and communal life, making the deliberate targeting of civilians, particularly women and children, an unforgivable crime that must be unequivocally denounced.
“A market is meant to be a place of hope, sustenance, and community. The deliberate targeting of innocent civilians, especially women and children, is an unforgivable crime that must be condemned in the strongest terms,” the Minister stated.
She called on citizens, especially residents of the affected communities, to support ongoing security efforts by providing useful information that could aid investigations and ensure that those responsible are swiftly identified, apprehended and brought to justice. According to her, collective vigilance and cooperation remain essential tools in confronting and defeating violence and terror.
The Minister extended her heartfelt condolences to families who lost loved ones in the tragic incident, offering prayers for comfort, strength and healing as they navigate this period of profound grief. She also expressed sympathy to those who sustained injuries, wishing them a speedy and full recovery.
Reaffirming the commitment of the Federal Government to the protection of lives and property, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim assured Nigerians that decisive measures are being taken to enhance security nationwide, with particular attention to the safety of women, children and other vulnerable groups.
“The Federal Government remains resolute in its duty to create a safe, secure and enabling environment where every Nigerian, especially women and children, can live, work and thrive without fear,” she said.
She further disclosed that the Ministry of Women Affairs will continue to collaborate with relevant security and humanitarian agencies to support affected families and advocate stronger measures aimed at safeguarding communities across the country.
While urging national unity in the face of violence, the Minister concluded that the country must remain steadfast and resilient. “Even as we mourn, we must stand united against violence. Nigeria will not bow to terror,” she declared.
