Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have recorded major operational breakthroughs in Adamawa State, as sustained cordon-and-search operations led to the dismantling of a suicide bombing network linked to the Gamboru Market Mosque attack and the interception of a large consignment of suspected terrorists’ logistics.
The successes were disclosed in an official statement signed by the Media Information Officer, Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, who said the operations formed part of intensified efforts to track down perpetrators and facilitators of the recent suicide bombing and to disrupt the logistics pipeline that sustains terrorist activities in the North East.
According to the statement, following sustained surveillance on identified locations, troops of Operation HADIN KAI executed a coordinated cordon-and-search operation in the Yan Lemo area of Mubi South Local Government Area in the early hours of 5 January 2026. The operation resulted in the arrest of eight suspects, including two principal suspects believed to be key facilitators within the suicide bombing network responsible for the Gamboru Market Mosque attack.
A thorough search of the suspects’ residence led to the recovery of cash, mobile phones, identification documents, Automated Teller Machine cards, jewellery and other personal effects. The recovered items, Lieutenant Colonel Uba said, are currently undergoing forensic analysis to support ongoing investigations and intelligence exploitation.
He further disclosed that during identification procedures, a suspect already in custody positively identified the two principal suspects as individuals who supplied materials used in preparing the Improvised Explosive Device employed in the attack. Additional occupants of the residence were also linked to the network, further exposing the depth and coordination of the terror cell operating in the area.
“All suspects remain in military custody and are undergoing detailed interrogation to facilitate further intelligence recovery before being transferred for continued investigation,” the statement said, adding that the operation was carefully executed to ensure the safety of civilians and to preserve critical evidence.
In a related development, troops of Operation HADIN KAI also intercepted a large consignment of suspected terrorists’ logistics in Mayo Nguli, Maiha Local Government Area of Adamawa State, on 4 January 2026. During the operation, the troops seized 45 jerrycans of Premium Motor Spirit, with a total volume of approximately 1,125 litres, suspected to have been smuggled for terrorist use.
The statement noted that the suppliers fled upon sighting the troops, abandoning the petroleum products, which are now in military custody pending further action. The operation was conducted without incident, and no casualties were recorded.
Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba said the twin operations underscore the unwavering resolve of Operation HADIN KAI to dismantle terrorist networks, disrupt logistics and supply chains, prevent future attacks and ensure that all perpetrators and collaborators of terrorism are brought to justice.
He added that Headquarters Operation HADIN KAI continues to urge members of the public to remain vigilant and to cooperate with security agencies, stressing that timely information and public support remain critical to sustaining security and consolidating peace across the North East region.
