Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have recorded another operational success in Borno State following a well-coordinated offensive against terrorist elements in Konduga Local Government Area, resulting in the rescue of abducted civilians and the neutralisation of several insurgents.

The military disclosed that the operation was carried out in the early hours of Sunday, 4 January 2026, when troops, working in close collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force, engaged terrorists at a known crossing point along the Sojiri axis. The encounter led to the neutralisation of five terrorists, with no casualty recorded on the side of the troops, reflecting what the military described as a high level of professionalism, precision and combat effectiveness.

During the operation, the troops successfully rescued three civilians who had earlier been kidnapped by the fleeing terrorists. Items recovered from the scene included AK-47 rifles and other sundry materials believed to have been used by the terrorists in their operations.

According to a statement signed by the Media Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, the successful outcome of the operation underscores the sustained commitment of the troops to aggressive offensive actions against terrorist elements, while maintaining a strong focus on the protection of civilians.

The operation also highlighted the importance of effective collaboration between the military and local security stakeholders, particularly the Civilian Joint Task Force, in degrading terrorist capabilities and denying them freedom of movement within the operational environment.

The military assured that troops’ morale remains high and that security forces continue to dominate the theatre of operations across the North East despite evolving security dynamics. Operation HADIN KAI, the statement reaffirmed, remains resolute in its mandate to dismantle terrorist networks and restore lasting peace and stability to the region.
