The Nigerian Army has dismissed as fake and misleading a recruitment advertisement currently circulating on social media and other online platforms, which claims that the “Nigerian Army Direct Short Service Course (DSSC) 29 Application Form 2026” is available to the public.

In an official signed statement, the Acting Director of the Directorate of Army Public Relations, Colonel Anele Appolonia, clarified that the advertisement did not originate from the Nigerian Army and was not authorised by any of its recognised channels. She stated that the Nigerian Army has not commenced any recruitment or commissioning exercise for either the Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC) or the Short Service Commission (SSC) at this time.

Colonel Appolonia strongly advised members of the public to disregard the false advertisement, stressing that it is entirely fraudulent and intended to mislead unsuspecting individuals. According to her, any information suggesting that applications are currently open for DSSC or SSC is untrue and should not be taken seriously.

She further explained that whenever recruitment exercises are approved to commence, the Nigerian Army will formally inform the public through its official platforms, including the Nigerian Army website, verified social media accounts, publications in national dailies, as well as other recognised and verified communication channels, with adequate publicity to ensure wide awareness.

The Nigerian Army also cautioned members of the public to remain vigilant and avoid falling victim to fraudsters who exploit fake recruitment notices to deceive and defraud unsuspecting applicants. The statement reiterated that the Nigerian Army does not charge any fee for recruitment into its ranks at any stage of the process.

Members of the public with information regarding such fraudulent activities or individuals involved in the circulation of fake recruitment notices were encouraged to promptly report to the nearest security agency or appropriate authorities for necessary action.

The Army said the clarification was necessary to prevent misinformation, protect the public from financial loss, and maintain the integrity of its recruitment processes.
