The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC has approved the promotion of 523 staff members across various cadres as part of its 2025 promotion exercise, in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The approval was granted by the Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Commission, Engr. (Dr) Abisoye Coker-Odusote, as a statutory component of the performance reward system for staff who participated in the exercise and met all prerequisite conditions as stipulated in the Public Service Rules (PSR).
This development was disclosed in an official signed statement by the Head, Corporate Communications, Kayode Adegoke, who explained that the promotions were based strictly on merit and compliance with established public service regulations.
According to the breakdown of the exercise, two staff members were promoted to the Director cadre on Grade Level 17, while eight officers advanced to the Deputy Director cadre on Grade Level 16. Thirty-five staff members were elevated to the rank of Assistant Director on Grade Level 15.
In addition, thirty-five officers were promoted to the level of Chief Identity Officer on Grade Level 14, while one hundred and nine moved up to the rank of Assistant Chief Identity Officer on Grade Level 13. The promotion list also included one hundred and thirteen officers who advanced to the rank of Principal Identity Officer on Grade Level 12, eighty-two officers promoted to the Senior Identity Officer cadre on Grade Level 10, and one hundred and thirty officers elevated to the rank of Identity Officer I on Grade Level 9.
Congratulating the promoted officers, Engr. Coker-Odusote charged them to regard their elevation as an opportunity to serve the nation with renewed dedication, professionalism, and integrity. She reiterated the Commission’s zero tolerance for extortion and warned all staff members to desist from any such practices, stressing that ethical conduct remains non-negotiable at NIMC.
The NIMC boss further encouraged all employees of the Commission to redouble their efforts in the coming year, 2026, to ensure the successful implementation of the National Identification Number (NIN) project. She reaffirmed her commitment to prioritising staff welfare and upholding the dignity of labour, as part of efforts to strengthen morale and enhance service delivery.
The promotion exercise, the statement noted, underscores NIMC’s resolve to motivate its workforce, reward excellence, and reinforce institutional efficiency in the delivery of its national mandate.
