The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has reiterated the Nigerian Army’s determination to deploy all necessary resources to tackle prevailing security challenges in Kogi State and across the nation.

In a statement issued by the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Colonel Appolonia Anele, it was disclosed that the COAS gave the assurance on Tuesday, 25 November 2025, while receiving the Executive Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo, at the Army Headquarters in Abuja.

Lieutenant General Shaibu emphasised the Army’s unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property, maintaining an aggressive operational posture aimed at neutralising threats and restoring stability nationwide. He also highlighted the Army’s readiness to deepen strategic collaboration with state governments to reinforce security structures and entrench lasting peace.

Governor Ododo, in his remarks, congratulated the COAS on his appointment as the 25th Chief of Army Staff, describing it as a deserved recognition of his competence and leadership. He commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for entrusting Lieutenant General Shaibu with the leadership of the Nigerian Army at this critical phase in Nigeria’s security landscape.

The Governor lauded the Army for its consistent role in safeguarding national security amid complex threats, stressing the need for collective responsibility. He assured Lieutenant General Shaibu of the Kogi State Government’s full support for ongoing and future military operations within the state.

The meeting underscored the shared commitment of the Nigerian Army and state authorities to confront security challenges decisively while fostering collaboration to achieve peace and stability.
