Troops of 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army, operating under Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), have achieved another significant breakthrough in Operation Zafin Wuta with the arrest of a notorious kidnap suspect in Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba State. The arrest is part of ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks responsible for persistent insecurity in the region.

In an official statement, the Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 6 Brigade, Lieutenant Umar Muhammad, confirmed that the troops, acting on credible intelligence, apprehended the suspect, Mr. Umar Musa Geyi, on 22 November 2025 at Jandei-Kulamu in Wukari LGA. Geyi, who has long been on the wanted list of security agencies, is believed to be a key member of a kidnapping syndicate that has terrorised multiple communities in the area.

Preliminary findings revealed that the suspect is linked to the abduction of Alhaji Jano, a Fulani resident of the Jandei–Kulala general area, who was kidnapped on 13 November 2025 and remains in captivity. According to the statement, troops intercepted Geyi during a phone conversation in which he confirmed that the victim was still being held and demanded a ransom of ₦20 million for his release.

The suspect is currently in military custody undergoing further interrogation aimed at locating the victim and supporting efforts for his safe rescue.

Commending the troops for their swift and decisive action, the Commander, 6 Brigade, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, reaffirmed the Brigade’s unwavering resolve to crack down on criminal syndicates, rescue victims, and restore security across Taraba State. He called on residents to remain vigilant and continue providing security agencies with timely and credible information to aid ongoing operations.
