President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has sent a high-level Federal Government delegation to condole with the family of the late Senator Solomon Ewuga, describing the former lawmaker as a committed patriot, a pillar of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and a statesman whose contributions to nation-building remain etched in national memory.

In an official signed statement by the Director, Information and Public Relations, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF), Segun Imohiosen, it was disclosed that the President was represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, CON, who led the delegation on a condolence visit to the residence of the late Senator Ewuga.

Delivering President Tinubu’s message, the SGF paid glowing tribute to the late Senator Ewuga, describing him as a close friend, distinguished politician, accomplished broadcaster, and exemplary public servant whose career touched various facets of national development. Senator Akume recalled their long-standing friendship, noting that they were classmates at St. Louis College, Jos, and later at the University of Ibadan, before their political journeys brought them together once again.

He stated that Senator Ewuga served the nation with exceptional dedication, having held positions such as Deputy Governor, Minister, Secretary of the Party in Plateau State, and prominent roles within the APC, while remaining deeply humane, generous, and unwavering in his commitment to the unity and progress of Nigeria.

“I was present at the night of tribute. Solomon and I were very good friends. We were classmates at St. Louis College, Jos, and later attended the University of Ibadan. Politics also brought us together. He served as Deputy Governor, Minister, Secretary of the Party in Plateau State, a broadcaster, and a dedicated public servant who contributed immensely to the growth of APC. He was generous, humane, and committed to the nation,” Akume said.

The SGF further conveyed President Tinubu’s deep sorrow over Senator Ewuga’s passing and assured the family of the President’s prayers and support. He urged them to take solace in the impactful life the late statesman lived, noting that while he will be missed on earth, “the angels welcome him.”

“President Tinubu asks that you accept his condolences in good faith, and he prays that God Almighty will not leave you in the cold. While we may miss him on earth, the angels welcome him. We will continue to support you, and you should not hesitate to reach out whenever the need arises,” he added.

Responding on behalf of the family, Mrs. Josephine Ewuga expressed deep appreciation to President Tinubu for honouring the memory of her husband and standing with the family during their time of grief. She described the visit as a powerful demonstration of love and recognition, affirming that her late husband’s service to the nation and the APC had not gone unnoticed.

“I am humbled by this visit. This show of love and recognition reflects the value of the service my husband gave to the nation and to the APC family. We thank Mr. President and the delegation for standing with us. We remain committed to contributing to the success of the government in any way we can,” she said.

The delegation also included the Honourable Minister of Women Affairs, Senator, Permanent Secretaries, and other senior government officials who joined in paying their respects and offering support to the bereaved family.
