The Federal Government has urged indigenous companies across all sectors to fully leverage the opportunities provided under the Nigeria First Policy, a strategic national initiative aimed at promoting local content, boosting domestic production and strengthening the country’s economic base.

In an official signed statement, the Director of Information and Public Relations, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Segun Imohiosen, disclosed that the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, made the appeal when the Managing Director and Founder of Solewant Group, Solomon Ewanehi, paid him a courtesy visit in Abuja.

Senator Akume reaffirmed the Tinubu administration’s commitment to creating an enabling environment for Nigerian businesses to thrive, noting that the Nigeria First Policy is already yielding positive results across critical sectors. He called on indigenous companies to seize the opportunities created by the policy to reduce Nigeria’s dependence on imported products and services, emphasising that the growth of local industries remains central to sustainable economic development.

The SGF commended the Founder of Solewant Group for taking bold steps to harness the divestment opportunities created by international oil companies through strategic investments in the oil and gas sector, including steel pipes, metal fabrication and specialised coating solutions. He described such initiatives as vital to strengthening the nation’s industrial capacity and expanding local content.

Speaking earlier, the Managing Director and Founder of Solewant Group, Solomon Ewanehi, highlighted the company’s increasing footprint in the production of steel pipes, coating materials and coated products for the oil and gas industry in Nigeria and across Africa. He noted that Solewant Group is working in line with the Federal Government’s directive to the Petroleum Technology Association of Nigeria and other industry stakeholders to support initiatives aimed at significantly increasing the nation’s crude oil production.

Ewanehi also informed the SGF of the company’s plan to host the 9th Africa Energy Summit scheduled for 27–28 November 2025 in Port Harcourt, a gathering where industry experts are expected to deliberate on strategies to enhance crude oil production and strengthen Africa’s competitiveness in the global energy landscape.
