President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has approved major leadership changes in two key federal agencies as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen transparency, accountability and operational efficiency within strategic national institutions.
According to an official statement issued by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF), Segun Imohiosen, the President approved the redeployment of Hon. Musa Sarkin Adar from his position as Chairman of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) to serve as the new Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI).
In a corresponding appointment, Mukhtar Shehu Shagari, CFR, has been named the new Chairman of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), replacing Hon. Sarkin Adar. Both decisions, the statement noted, take immediate effect.
President Tinubu urged the newly appointed officials to demonstrate patriotism, uphold the highest standards of integrity, and deploy their wealth of experience to ensure improved service delivery within their respective agencies. He emphasised that the strategic roles occupied by NEITI and NIWA are central to strengthening transparency in the extractive sector and enhancing efficiency in the nation’s inland waterways operations.
The new appointments signal the administration’s renewed drive to reposition key institutions for enhanced public accountability and national development.
