The Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria (ARCN) has hosted a delegation from the Spanish Corporation, aimed at deepening existing collaboration in aquaculture and women empowerment initiatives.
In an official signed statement, the Head of Public Relations at ARCN, Khadijat O. Ameen, disclosed that the delegation was led by Beatrice, who noted that the visit was primarily to brief the Council on the progress of the organisation’s partnership with the Regional Centre of Excellence in Aquaculture, domiciled within ARCN. She emphasised that the collaboration focuses on empowering women through sustainable aquaculture programmes.
The Executive Secretary of ARCN, members of management, and representatives of the Regional Centre of Excellence expressed their appreciation for the visit, acknowledging Spain’s continued support to Nigeria’s agricultural development efforts.
Speaking during the engagement, Dr Aliyu Shuaibu Madugu, Director of Planning, Research and Statistics, took the delegation through a historical overview of key programmes that have shaped the sector over the years. He highlighted that many of these initiatives, facilitated through ARCN’s research and development frameworks, have played crucial roles in advancing Nigeria’s food sustainability agenda.
The meeting reaffirmed the commitment of both parties to strengthening bilateral ties and expanding collaborative projects that support innovation, capacity building and inclusive growth within Nigeria’s agricultural value chain.
