The lingering leadership tussle within the Action Alliance (AA) has finally been laid to rest, as the Federal High Court, Abuja, on Thursday, 6 November 2025, affirmed Chief Kenneth Udeze as the lawful National Chairman of the party.
Delivering judgment in suit number FHC/CS/12/2024, Hon. Justice Egwuatu dismissed the case filed by Adekunle Rufai Omoaje and his faction, who had sought the court’s recognition of their purported national convention held in Abeokuta, Ogun State, as valid and binding on the party.
After reviewing the legal arguments presented by Ezenwa Ibegbunam, counsel to Chief Udeze, as well as several previous judgments on the same matter, the court held that Udeze remains the authentic National Chairman and that the National Executive Committee led by him is the only lawful leadership of the Action Alliance.
In its decision, the court upheld all earlier pronouncements that had consistently recognised Udeze as the legitimate leader of the party, effectively ending years of internal crisis and factional disputes that had threatened the unity and progress of the AA.
Reacting to the judgment, Chief Kenneth Udeze described the verdict as a landmark victory for democracy and the rule of law, stating that it has “finally laid to rest the illegal and fictitious claims” of the Omoaje faction. He expressed appreciation to the judiciary for its courage and impartiality in upholding justice and thanked the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for its respect for due process throughout the legal proceedings.
“This judgment is a clear vindication of the rule of law and a victory for truth,” Udeze said. “We can now move forward as one united family, focused on repositioning our party and participating actively in upcoming elections across the country.”
The court’s decision is expected to restore stability within the Action Alliance and enable the party to realign its structures ahead of future political contests.
