Troops of 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army, and Sector 3, Operation Whirl Stroke, have successfully rescued a kidnapped victim, Alhaji Ali Adamu, in Lau Local Government Area of Taraba State, following a swift and coordinated operation under the ongoing Operation Lafiya Nakowa.

According to an official statement signed by the Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 6 Brigade, Lieutenant Umar Muhammad, the rescue took place on 29 October 2025 after troops received a distress call reporting the abduction of Alhaji Adamu, who was kidnapped while sleeping outside his compound.

The statement explained that troops immediately mobilized and launched a hot pursuit of the kidnappers. On sensing that the soldiers were closing in on them, the criminals abandoned the victim and fled into the nearby bushes. The troops safely rescued Alhaji Adamu and reunited him with his family without any ransom paid.

In a related development, local vigilantes and hunters on patrol around Maraban Kunini in the early hours of the same day apprehended a suspected kidnapper identified as Mr. Lalau Adamu, 30, who was alleged to have been involved in the abduction. Troops who arrived at the scene discovered that the suspect had sustained injuries from mob action. He was immediately evacuated under military protection to a medical facility for treatment while investigations into his involvement continue.

The Commander, 6 Brigade and Sector 3, Operation Whirl Stroke, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended the quick response and effective coordination among troops, vigilantes, and local hunters that led to the successful rescue. He praised their synergy as a model of community-supported security operations and urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies to sustain peace and stability in the area.

Brigadier General Uwa reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to protecting lives and property, assuring that Operation Lafiya Nakowa will continue to intensify operations aimed at flushing out bandits and other criminal elements across Taraba State and its environs.

He emphasized that the troops remain resolute in their mandate to ensure that all citizens can go about their daily activities without fear, stressing that the Army will sustain its aggressive operations until lasting peace and security are fully restored in the region.
