The Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to building a cohesive and strategically aligned defence leadership as he received the newly appointed Chief of Defence Staff and the three Service Chiefs at the Ministry of Defence, Ship House, Abuja, on Tuesday.

The courtesy visit marked the first official engagement between the Honourable Minister and the new military leadership since their appointments by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, who also serves as the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

According to a statement signed by Mati Ali, Personal Assistant, Media and Publicity to the Honourable Minister, those in attendance included the Chief of Defence Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi O. Oluyede; Chief of Army Staff, Major General W. Shaibu; Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral I. Abbas; and Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal S. K. Aneke.

The Minister commended the new Service Chiefs for their dedication and assured them of his full support in achieving the administration’s national security objectives. He noted that their visit symbolized a fresh start for Nigeria’s defence sector, emphasizing the importance of synergy, discipline, and strategic coordination across all branches of the Armed Forces.

Badaru described the meeting as a crucial step toward strengthening leadership cohesion within the defence architecture, stressing that unity and shared purpose were vital to achieving sustainable peace and security across the country.

He reiterated that under the renewed leadership of President Tinubu, the Ministry of Defence would continue to prioritize inter-service cooperation, intelligence-driven operations, and technological advancement in military engagements to better protect Nigeria’s territorial integrity and national interests.

The visit, which took place in a cordial atmosphere, further highlighted the Minister’s vision of advancing unity, leadership, and strategic direction within the Armed Forces, paving the way for a more responsive and coordinated defence system in line with national priorities.
