A major political shift has taken place in Imo State as Chief Emmanuel Chiharam Anyanwu (popularly known as Dikemba), the former Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Obowo Local Government Area, has been elected the new Chairman of the All Democratic Congress (ADC) in Obowo.
The development is seen as a new chapter for ADC in the area, with expectations of renewed focus, cohesion, and stronger grassroots engagement.
Chief Anyanwu is widely respected for his political influence and leadership record. During his tenure as PDP Chairman in Obowo, he played a pivotal role in mobilising support that contributed to the successful election of the immediate past Governor of Imo State, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha. His strong grassroots networks and political acumen have earned him recognition across the zone.
In his acceptance speech, Chief Anyanwu expressed deep appreciation to High Chief Emma Okewulonu (Ikeoha), the Apex Leader of Rebuild Imo in the Okigwe Zone, for his visionary leadership and guidance. He described Chief Okewulonu as a key force in strengthening the ADC, pledging to work closely with him to consolidate the party’s structures and achievements in the area.
“I will work harmoniously with our leader, High Chief Emma Okewulonu, to ensure that the ADC in Obowo remains united, cohesive, and focused on progress. My commitment is to keep our local government intact and to drive development under the ADC banner,” Chief Anyanwu declared.
The new ADC Chairman stressed that his administration would prioritise unity, discipline, and inclusiveness within the party, assuring members that his leadership will strengthen the ADC’s presence and ensure the party remains a viable political force in the local government.
