The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Defence, Dr Sunday Attah, has called for a comprehensive review of the recent ordnance explosion that occurred at the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON), Kaduna, on September 21, 2025. He said the review would help strengthen existing safety measures and prevent a recurrence of such incidents in the future.

Dr Attah made the call on Thursday, September 25, 2025, during an inspection visit to the scene of the explosion in Kaduna. He urged staff of the corporation not to be discouraged by the incident, but to remain steadfast in the discharge of their duties.

In an official statement signed by the Assistant Director, Information and Public Relations, Enderline Chukwu, the Permanent Secretary stressed that while the explosion was regrettable, it should serve as a learning point for the corporation to reinforce its operational protocols.

“The staff of DICON must not be demoralised by this unfortunate incident. Rather, you must continue to carry out your responsibilities with dedication and resilience,” Attah was quoted as saying.

During the inspection, the Director General of DICON, Major General B. I. Alaya, assured the Permanent Secretary that the situation was fully under control. He added that the corporation would continue to operate within established safety and production protocols to ensure that its strategic mandate was not compromised.

Dr Attah was accompanied on the visit by officials of the Ministry of Defence.
