The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, on Tuesday, 23 September 2025, received members of the Northern Bridge Builders Forum on a courtesy visit at the Defence Headquarters, Abuja, where he reaffirmed the Armed Forces of Nigeria’s (AFN) commitment to safeguarding the nation.

According to an official statement signed by the Director Defence Information, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, the leader of the delegation, Senator Joel Danlami Ikenya, commended the AFN for its immense contributions to peace, unity, and stability across the country. He said the forum stands firmly with the Nigerian military and particularly lauded its efforts in restoring security to troubled areas, which has enabled farmers to return to their fields and boost agricultural production.

Senator Ikenya also distanced the forum from what he described as negative criticisms of the military by some uninformed individuals, stressing that such remarks do not reflect the reality on the ground. He urged the AFN to sustain its momentum in the fight against insecurity, noting the significant improvement along the Abuja–Kaduna highway as a clear example of the military’s success.

Responding, General Musa expressed appreciation for the visit and thanked the forum for its solidarity and encouragement. He reassured the delegation that the Armed Forces remain resolute and will continue to work tirelessly to ensure the safety and security of all Nigerians.

The CDS further commended the diverse membership of the Northern Bridge Builders Forum, describing them as patriotic Nigerians committed to building bridges of peace and unity across the country.
