In a renewed push to stamp out terrorism in the North-East, troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), supported by the Air Component and local security outfits, have sustained coordinated offensives against Boko Haram (JAS) and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists, recording major gains between 23 and 30 August 2025.
The operations, which cut across Gujba, Gubio, Sabsawa, and Whumtakum in Chibok Local Government Area, as well as Mandarari in Konduga, Gajigana in Magumeri, and other locations including Banki and Loskori Kura in Mafa, dealt decisive blows to terrorist networks. Military authorities confirmed that more than 20 terrorists were neutralized in engagements across OPHK sectors, while several logistics suppliers and collaborators were arrested during the week-long offensives.
Recovered items from the operations included several AK-47 rifles, Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) tubes and bombs, a large cache of 7.62mm ammunition, and other logistics materials belonging to the terrorists. Troops also successfully detonated Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) planted along key routes and intercepted no fewer than 242 bags of NPK fertiliser, believed to be destined for insurgents who use the product in fabricating deadly IEDs.
According to the military high command, these deliberate operations have denied terrorists the freedom to operate, weakened their supply chains, and created safer conditions for socio-economic activities across the region. The sustained strangulation strategy, they added, is already yielding tangible results in restoring normalcy to previously volatile communities.
Commending the troops for their determination and bravery, the military leadership reaffirmed its commitment to providing unwavering support to ensure the momentum against insurgency is maintained. It stressed that the sacrifices and resilience of the forces remain central to the ongoing efforts to restore peace and stability to the North-East.
