The President of the Defence and Police Officers’ Wives Association (DEPOWA), Mrs Oghogho Musa, on Monday, 1 September 2025, paid a working visit to the Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla, at the Naval Headquarters in Abuja, where she sought the Nigerian Navy’s support for a series of intervention projects spearheaded by the association.

Central to her visit was DEPOWA’s flagship initiative, “Thank You to Our Troops”, a programme designed to recognize the sacrifices of officers and men of the Armed Forces while boosting their morale in the line of duty.

In her remarks, Mrs Musa reaffirmed the association’s commitment to the welfare of military personnel, their families, and host communities through empowerment programmes, humanitarian outreaches, and advocacy drives. She explained that the Naval Headquarters visit was not only to express appreciation to the Chief of the Naval Staff for his previous support but also to seek further collaboration in specific areas that would enhance the delivery of DEPOWA’s interventions.

“The ‘Thank You to Our Troops’ initiative is a way of showing our appreciation to our gallant personnel for their sacrifices in defending the nation. It is about boosting their morale and reminding them that their service is deeply valued,” Mrs Musa noted.

Responding, Vice Admiral Ogalla commended DEPOWA for its vision, describing the association’s activities as both noble and impactful. He particularly praised the “Thank You to Our Troops” project, stressing that it was timely and would go a long way in encouraging officers and ratings of the Nigerian Navy to remain steadfast in their service to the nation.

The CNS assured Mrs Musa of the Navy’s continued support and collaboration, pledging that the service would work closely with DEPOWA to ensure the success of its humanitarian and empowerment programmes.

The visit further highlighted the importance of civil-military cooperation and the supportive role of military families in national defence, reinforcing DEPOWA’s mission to improve the well-being of personnel and strengthen morale across the Armed Forces.
