The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) and the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) have reaffirmed their commitment to deepen collaboration in pursuit of national security and operational efficiency.

This assurance was given during a courtesy visit by the leadership of the CDCFIB to the Customs Headquarters in Abuja on Thursday, 21 August 2025.

Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC), Adewale Adeniyi, emphasised that the long-standing cooperation between Customs and sister agencies under the CDCFIB remains vital to Nigeria’s security architecture. He highlighted the sharing of facilities and operational support as practical examples of enduring partnership across the country.

“In Ibadan, we have a five-storey building where two floors are dedicated to Immigration and a Correctional Service detachment,” Adeniyi said. “In Kano, our facilities support Immigration recruitment exercises, while in Bauchi, a wing is set aside for our colleagues. These prove that, despite structural changes, our bond remains strong. We work together and will continue to do so.”

The Customs boss reiterated that the Service remains open to further areas of collaboration that will enhance efficiency, strengthen inter-agency relations, and ensure a unified front against security and economic challenges.

In his remarks, the Secretary of the CDCFIB, Major General AbdulMalik Jibril (rtd), congratulated CGC Adeniyi on the extension of his tenure and commended his leadership in advancing both national security and Nigeria’s economy.

“As Secretary to the Board of these four services, I consider it necessary to rekindle our relationship and strengthen synergy. Whenever the need arises, we must be able to approach one another. This visit seeks to consolidate our partnership and reinforce cooperation for national security,” Jibril stated.

He explained that the visit was aimed at expanding areas of collaboration, including training, recruitment, and shared operational resources, all in line with the federal government’s whole-of-society approach to security management.
