As part of its efforts to promote disaster risk reduction in zones, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has continued to build the resilience of grassroots/community to disaster, expand the network on DRR and equip the most vulnerable groups (children) with the requisite knowledge/skills.
This is coming up based on the increasing global challenges of natural and man-induced disasters exacerbated by climate change and extreme weather events which have resulted to sufferings, loss of lives, destruction of property, displacement of people, etc.
A one – day sensitization program on Disaster Risk Management/Basic First Aid training was organized by NEMA South East Zonal Office for SS3 Students in Anglican Girls Grammar School, Awkunanaw Agbani Road, Enugu on the 6th March, 2024. The training was aimed at understanding hazards, prevalent disaster/ emergency, risk and basic first aid treatment
It was a moment of knowledge sharing, lesson learnt experience, acquiring essential skills for emergencies/basic first aid treatment.
The exercise was a huge success as the students took turns to ask thought provoking questions.
The principal, teachers and students appreciated the Agency for the knowledge impacted and further pledged to cascade the knowledge.
