The  Minister of Women Affairs, Hon. Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, has extended heartfelt congratulations to the Super Falcons following their momentous triumph at the 2024/2025 TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Rabat, Morocco, where they clinched their 10th continental title.

The Super Falcons delivered a spirited performance on Saturday night, defeating host nation Morocco in a tense and thrilling final that solidified Nigeria’s dominance in African women’s football. The victory marks a new chapter in the country’s sporting history and a reaffirmation of the resilience and excellence that define Nigerian women on and off the field.

In an official statement by her special adviser on media and publicity Jonathan Eze, the Hon. Imaan described the Super Falcons’ win as not only a sporting achievement but a powerful symbol of national inspiration. “This is more than a win on the pitch; it is a powerful symbol of the strength, discipline, and unbreakable spirit of Nigerian women,” she said. “The Super Falcons have once again proven that when Nigerian women lead, they inspire a nation and shine on the world stage.”

The Minister applauded the team’s exceptional display of resilience, teamwork, and grace under pressure, noting that their performance has become a beacon of hope for girls and young women across the country. “As Minister of Women Affairs, I am immensely proud. Tonight, every Nigerian girl sees a reflection of her dreams in your victory. You have not only lifted a trophy, you have lifted hearts,” she stated.

Hon. Imaan also extended her congratulations to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for what she called their “unprecedented support” for the team and the broader Nigerian sports ecosystem. She noted that the success of the Falcons aligns with the vision of the Renewed Hope Agenda, which emphasizes the empowerment and development of women in all spheres of life.

Reaffirming the ministry’s dedication to supporting women in sports, Hon. Imaan assured that the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs will continue to champion policies and programs that enable Nigerian women and girls to thrive in sports and other fields.

“The Super Falcons have not only written a golden chapter in football history, but they have also inspired a new generation of girls to dream big, work hard, and believe in themselves,” she concluded.
