In a major stride towards blending digital convenience with public safety, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has launched a robust and user-friendly mobile application, the FRSC Mobile App, aimed at transforming how Nigerians interact with road safety tools and FRSC services.
Described as more than a convenience tool, the FRSC Mobile App is a strategic innovation designed to improve safety consciousness, boost compliance, and reduce preventable road crashes across Nigeria. The Corps announced that the app is now available for free download on the Google Play Store, urging all road users to embrace it as a critical life-saving solution.
According to the spokesperson for the Corps, Olusegun Ogungbemide, who disclosed this in an official signed statement, the application represents another milestone in the FRSC’s pursuit of smarter, safer roads through digital transformation. He explained that the app is a one-stop hub for real-time access to vital road use information and FRSC services, bringing the Corps’ key functions closer to the public than ever before.
“This app is not just a digital upgrade; it’s a transformative tool that empowers every Nigerian to access safety services from their homes, vehicles, or offices,” Ogungbemide stated. “Whether it’s renewing a driver’s licence or reporting an accident, this technology ensures timely, efficient, and transparent service delivery.”
Key features of the application include online renewal of driver’s licences, real-time verification of driver’s licence and vehicle number plate status, access to crash-prone zones and black spot detection, as well as real-time alerts on speed limit violations, helping users maintain safe driving thresholds. The app also enables live streaming of National Traffic Radio 107.1 FM, providing users with on-the-go updates on traffic conditions, safety tips, emergency advisories, and awareness campaigns.
Through the app, users can also report traffic obstructions, road crashes, and misconduct by FRSC officials for prompt response. The integrated features, according to the Corps, are tailored to promote transparency, reduce delays, and support real-time safety engagement.
Corps Marshal of the FRSC, Shehu Mohammed, under whose leadership the application was developed and launched, described the initiative as a major leap toward digital governance and citizen-centric service delivery. Speaking on the benefits of the app, he stated that it enhances road safety management, improves access to services, and strengthens public accountability.
“This app strengthens accountability, eliminates bureaucratic bottlenecks, and puts power directly in the hands of Nigerians. It is a modern solution for a modern society, and it reflects FRSC’s commitment to leveraging technology for national safety,” the Corps Marshal said.
He added that in today’s information-driven world, ignorance is no longer an acceptable excuse for expired vehicle documents, reckless driving, or unsafe travel decisions.
“With just a few taps, you can check your vehicle status, avoid black spots, stay within speed limits, and stay informed about road conditions. This app brings safety to your fingertips,” he noted.
The Corps Marshal emphasized that owning the app is not a luxury but a necessity. “Your safety is your responsibility, and now it’s just a tap away. Whether you’re a driver, commuter, fleet operator, or logistics manager, we urge you to download the FRSC Mobile App today.”
The FRSC also provided public contact details for further information about the app. Members of the public can call the FRSC toll-free number 122, visit the official website at www.frsc.gov.ng, or follow the Corps’ verified social media platforms on Facebook, X, Instagram, and YouTube via @FRSCNigeria.
